how to connect to incorrigo syx
our platform can be accessed by a variety of different applications. depending on how advanced you are a user, you may prefer to use your own chat client [IRC client / the name of one of these applications], however - if you are just getting started we have one that works in your web browser / on any size of device, requires only a browser with javascript
if this is particularly new to you, the web browser client is recommended
selection of simple things for new users
Choosing a Nickname
Picking a Channel
Private Conversations
Some Nicknames Are Taken
"Being held for registered user" (!??)
Getting Started With Channels
apart from invalid characters etc. some nicknames are either not allowed, or - more likely - already taken ...
Select Something Else Quick
when you try to connect with / change to a nickname that is taken, you might feel a bit hurried along by nickserv, the account service that protects your nickname from being used by other people. if you are new to incorrigo syx then chances are you're trying to use someone else's nickname. if this is the case then don't panic; the only thing that will happen if you take too long is that your nickname will automatically be changed to a random guesto nick - these are referred to by services as guest nicknames and are such because they are not allowed to be registered by anyone
it's not the end of the world if you are presented with this. all that will happen if time runs out, is the nickname will be placed on a services hold [so no one can use it until the real owner tells nickserv to release it] and your nickname will be changed to a guest one
this is what it looks like, just to show you how it's not such a bad thing - as long as you don't keep trying it because then you might get banned for a while
this works in any situation
to change your nickname, you go to the box where you would normally write messages, and use the /nick newnickname command. obviously it might be a brighter idea to use something other than actually 'newnickname' but even with helpful guides like this one, there's always usually a learning curve
to start you on your learning curve, start typing a command with a forward '/' slash and [in the web chat client] you will see some suggestions ...
another situation solved. job well done ...
