what is a vhost?
a v-host is a vanity hostname that replaces your real IP address or hostname on incorrigo syx. kind of like the number plate of a car. by default when you log in, your full address is 'cloaked' but your ISP is still visible. when cloaked, your address will still be unique enough to identify you, but it cannot be used to try and connect to you over the internet

the only time your full IP or hostname will be visible is when you transfer files or open a DCC chat session [your real address is required to make the connection] or if you de-cloak yourself by setting mode -x [not recommended] NB: removing the cloak will not let you avoid a ban that has been placed on your cloaked address, it will just needlessly reveal your full IP or hostname

You can request this with hostserv command: /hs or /hostserv REQUEST lH-... etc.

when you are registered and logged in to your account, you can request anything you want to replace your real IP / hostname [more info: /query hostserv help] and it will be added to hostserv's waiting list. once your vhost has been accepted by an operator, it will be activated. when it has been activated, your default cloaked IP / hostname will be replaced with your vhost straight away and, from then on, whenever you successfully log into your nickname / account
